In the Shadow

of the Great Smoky Mountains the tradition of brewing intoxicating concoctions has existed in many forms since the Scotch-Irish settled here hundreds of years ago...

Why Brew

Great natural resources, the most visited National Park in America, tradition and much more.

Pure Water

The largest and most important ingredient in our beer comes from one of the purest, untouched and protected watersheds on the planet, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

With over 85 inches of rainfall each year, it's abundant and flows directly from the Park (just 2 miles away) to our brewery where a simple carbon filter removes traces of chlorine and dirt before heading to the hot liquor tank.

Tourism

Bryson City experiences a huge influx of visitors each year. The Nantahala River (one of the most rafted in the country), the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad (right across the street) and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park (the most visited national park in America) attract more than 10 million visitors each year.

Tradition

Whether it was making moonshine, ales or the traditional (and slightly alcoholic) root beer, brewing has always been an important part of Southern Appalachian culture and history. A tradition we continue through craft beer.

In Bryson City?

We admit! It's pretty remote and not exactly a shipping hub, but...quality of life, the outdoor capital of the Smokys and the Beer City U.S.A. are just a few of the reasons we decided to call Bryson City home.

The quality of life in Bryson City, for those in search of peace, quiet and a connection to both community and the great outdoors is unique. We consider our small town one of the last eastern frontiers and a great place to raise a family, experience the great outdoors and grow a business that is connected to our community.

Our small town has long been considered the Outdoor Capital of the Smokys. With mountain & road biking, hiking, running, car & backcountry camping, lake kayaking and whitewater kayaking & rafting there's an activity for everyone here. Everyone on our team was attracted to our area by the call of the wild and experiencing the outdoors is as much a part of our lives as craft beer.

Since opening in 2010, Western North Carolina has seen a tremendous amount of growth in the craft brewing industry. Collectively, we've forged partnerships with our peers, contributed to our communities and attracted some of the west coasts most prominent craft brewers including Sierra Nevada Brewing. It's exciting to be close enough to be a part of the WNC brewing scene, but far enough away from Asheville to keep our sense of identity and community.
